How The Right Speaker System Can Help Your Message Become Loud and
Clear
Is Your Speaker System Ruining Your Message?
At many places of worship, it is often difficult to hear the preacher ministering. Although the reasons vary, the
outcome is still the same; parishioners and visitors are scratching their heads wondering what the man of God just
said.
Many are familiar with the phrase "What did he/she say?" that echos amongst the crowd during a religious
gathering. Inspirational and motivational moments go unheard when they should be enjoyed. The quality of sound we
are so familiar with at home, in our cars, and at the movies is nothing like the disappointing sound quality we
hear at our place of worship.
The culprit of this problem? Primarily, a poor speaker system and an inferior sound system. Also factor in the
features of the various worship places and their architecture. High ceilings, an abundance of glass, long naves all
create a poor environment for sound systems.
Be a Good Steward; Don't Waste Your Money!!!
Often, people feel that buying an expensive speaker system will do the trick, but too many times they end up
wasting money that could have gone to something else. Fortunately, there are many speakers and speaker systems out
there to help all worship auditory issues. Technology advances all around us, but usually never at important places
like places of worship.
Places of worship with poor sound systems find it hard to hear both speeches and music. Usually, these sound
systems are for speeches only, but why settle and allow the chorus to go unheard or the organ to sound dull and far
away to the people sitting all the way in the back? A speaker system should not only amplify sound, but balance and
tone it as well.
It's time for places of worship to cross the line and bring in sound systems and speaker systems like we are
accustomed to in our everyday lives.
Center cluster speaker systems are good for small places of worship because they put all of the sound at the
center of the stage. The sounds bounce off the walls, ceiling and floor, and virtually everyone can hear them and
the quality of the audio is decent. Usually, with center cluster speakers you'll hear all the louder, closer sounds
over the background sounds.
Left-right speakers are also great for small places of worship, but are better for larger places. Left-right
speakers make the background noise (such as the organ) match up with the voices (such as the chorus), so that you
hear everything equally and neither sound is more prominent that the other.
Left-center-right speakers are great for both large and small places of worship. You hear the sound from
everywhere, and the tone and balances of all of the sounds are about equal.
Delay speaker systems are recommended for any place of worship because it allows the sound from the speakers to
hit your ears all at the exact same time.
Regardless of the sound systems right for your place of worship, don't settle for something cheap. Consider the
shape of the church, the size, the materials it's made from, and the type of speaker system that would be best
before going out to look for a sound system. You'll want something that people will appreciate.
If you have to go through a long process to raise funds to insure that your place of worship has a quality sound
system, then so be it! People should hear the minister and the chorus over the "What?" whispers.
